Our Structure

The Volunteer Centre of Winnipeg chairs the Manitoba Voluntary Sector Advisory Council which meets monthly.

It’s made up of five partners which each support components of the sector:

  • Social Planning Council of Winnipeg
  • The Winnipeg Foundation
  • Arts Stabilization Manitoba
  • The United Way of Winnipeg
  • The Thomas Sill Foundation

The Secretariat on Voluntary Sector Sustainability is the operational arm of the Manitoba Voluntary Sector Initiative (MVSI) and is responsible for the development and implementation of the MVSI’s plan of action- advice, direction and guidance. In this regard, the Secretariat works with both the Volunteer Centre of Winnipeg as the host organization, and the Manitoba Voluntary Sector Advisory Council. It is comprised of a Director, and a team of research, policy development, and event planning consultants who assist in the implementation of the overall plan of action.

We have established three committees with a range of membership, which now include a speakers series coordinating committee; an advisory committee of voluntary sector organizations and leaders on possible agreements between the voluntary sector, government, business and labour; and a committee to co-ordinate an information sharing POLICY SUMMIT scheduled for January 2003 (see structure).
